This New Mom Mental Health Move Deserves a Standing Ovulation š
Happy mother's day! We're here to tell you what you need to know about your body: from your menstrual cycle to the news cycle. #stayabreast
ā„ļø CO-FOUNDER KC TALKS MOTHERāS DAY, LEAKY BOOBS AND MENTAL HEALTH
I feel a bit like Iām reaching through the āUpside Downā world to write to you all today, (not my husband and I rewatching Stranger Things to power through the sleepless newborn phase), and it feels so good to get back to some normalcy!
Thereās no coincidence that Motherās Day and Maternal Health Month are both in May, so letās talk about it.
Motherās Day can be complicated for so many and our hearts and thoughts are going out to you, no matter where you land this weekend. However you feel today, itās okay. Whatever you want your day to look like, we hope you ask for it and you get it! At 2.5 weeks post-partum Iām really just looking for a nap š« .
Jess and I both have had our struggles with post-partum mental health and thanks to our friendship and our friendship with other women who were brave enough to reach out and talk about it, we were able to get the care and support we needed. If youāre needing support, you can always reach out to us on social media or any of these routes (of course, call 911 or 988 if youāre experiencing any suicidal ideations, thoughts of self-harm or harm to others):
Call your OBGYN and they can help you with a referral or potentially a prescription if needed
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness): Call 1-800-950-6264 or text āhelplineā to 62640
Having the support and backup through friends and family has made all the difference in the world, please, please donāt be afraid to ask for help.
Being a mom is the wildest, most exhausting and joyful privilege Iāve ever experienced and Iām so gratefulā¦and tiredā¦and overwhelmed at the same time.
The laundry pile is high with milk and sweat soaked clothes and blown out onesies, my brain and body are exhausted and the vibes are still somehow higher. āļø
